Biography

Michael Donovan started lapidary work in 2020 while stuck at home during Covid. He purchased his first faceting machine to begin cutting glass art. Shortly after, he discovered the beauty of faceted gemstones. Enthralled with the process he dove deep into the craft reading as many books and forums to understand the techniques used to produce high end stones.

Now two years in he enjoys using cad programs to create unique designs, as well as fantasy cutting to help his stones stand out against the many commercially cut gems in the market.

 Always pursuing knowledge and growth in his field, you can expect his work to continue to expand into new styles and designs not often seen in the gem scene.
